I was up in Sacramento on business and decided to drop by Skinner’s studio to say “hey”. The big, barn-like structure he uses for a studio is in the back of his house, and I learned that both the studio and the house were built by him! So impressive. Skinner can really do it all. He’s one of the hardest working, most diversely talented artists I’ve ever known.
While visiting his studio, I got to check out some of the new work for his upcoming solo show at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. His plans for the show are out of control! He’s going to completely transform the space with detailed paintings, sculptures, and the installation to end all installations. He managed to make some of the paintings 3-D too! So cool! I didn’t take any spoiler shots so you’ll just have to be sure to check out his show in person.
