I’m a huge fan of the Tour de France and, being a former cyclist, consider it the world’s greatest sport. Imagine my thrill when I discovered this year’s Tour would feature a happy marriage between my two greatest passions: Art and cycling. Legendary artist Damien Hirst teamed up with Trek Bikes and cycling icon Lance Armstrong to design this gorgeous machine featuring real butterflies. Armstrong will ride “The Bikes of Stages” to the podium at the Champs-Elysées on today’s 21st and final day of this 96th Tour de France. Fans of Hirst and/or Armstrong with pocketbooks of noteable size can place a bid on the bike when it goes up for auction on October 2nd in NYC. Check out more pics courtesy of Trek’s Flickr stream after the link.
