The incomparably influential and illusive Oaxacan artist, Dr. Lakra just opened his first solo show with Kurimanzutto Gallery, Mexico City over the weekend. With rare showings in the US, Dr. Lakra has proven no less inspiring to many contemporary urban artists working in America. Dr. Lakra uses old photographs of pin ups, vintage pornographic photos, medical and science illustrations, and Japanese prints, embellishing them with tattoos or demonic details in his signature style. The show will run through October 24th.
